How much does a full car wrap cost in San Diego?

A full car wrap at Enhanced Automotive costs $2,800 to $4,600, depending on the vehicle. Coupes run $2,800 to $3,500 and sedans $3,000 to $3,800. SUVs run $3,200 to $3,800 and pickup trucks $3,200 to $4,200. Vans run $3,000 to $3,800 and cargo vans $3,600 to $4,600.

I'd rather you see the range up front than find it out on a phone call, and you'll notice the ranges are narrow. Most wrap pricing online arrives as a shrug with a dollar sign, which is why you end up with five tabs open and a growing suspicion that the numbers are picked by dice.

For scale, HotCars puts the average cost to wrap a car at $2,500 to $5,000. Our full wrap prices sit inside that range. That article was published in February 2023, which in car wrap years is roughly the Stone Age, so treat it as a ballpark and not a quote.

What makes one car wrap cost more than another?

Four things move a wrap price: the size of the vehicle, the film you pick, how much of the car you cover, and the condition of the paint underneath. Bigger vehicles need more film and more hours. Damaged paint needs attention before any film goes on.

What changes a car wrap price
FactorWhy it changes the price
Vehicle sizeMore surface means more film and more install hours.
Film and finishThe brand and finish you choose set the material cost.
CoverageA hood or roof costs less than the whole car. A chrome delete starts from $399.
Paint conditionChips, peeling clear coat and old repairs can change the plan.

Film is where the sticker shock hides. HotCars says material choice largely determines the cost, and that satin finishes are cheaper than matte. Yes, the flat-looking one costs more. Nobody promised matte would make sense.

Paint is the part nobody wants to hear about. Vinyl hides color, not damage, and flaws underneath can affect how the film sticks and can show through it. Wrapping over failing paint is like hanging a poster over a leaky wall: the poster looks great and the wall still has opinions.

Not sure you want the whole car done? A chrome delete blacks out the trim for far less, and racing stripes add a look without covering the whole car.

How much does it cost to wrap an SUV?

A full SUV wrap at Enhanced Automotive costs about $3,200 to $3,800. SUVs start $200 above sedans, which begin at $3,000. Both top out at $3,800. The rest of the gap is more film and more install hours, and the exact number depends on the model.

SUV owners pay a small tax for driving a car with a bonus trunk. A Telluride has enough roof to land a drone on, and every inch of it needs film.

What does the installation cost cover?

A wrap price is film plus labor, and online numbers don't always say which one they mean. Ask every shop what its number includes: the film, the install, taking parts off and putting them back, and any paint prep. Ours is confirmed in writing after we look at the car.

Two quotes of $3,000 can describe two different jobs. You find that out after you've picked the cheaper one, usually in the same breath as the word "extra."

Ask how long the wrap will last, too. Our guide on how long vinyl wrap lasts in San Diego covers it, and our vinyl wrap versus respray comparison helps if a repaint is also on the table.

How do you estimate your own car wrap cost?

There isn't one honest car wrap cost calculator, because film, paint condition and coverage all change the answer. Use these steps instead: find your vehicle in the table, decide on full or partial coverage, choose a film finish, then have the paint checked. That gives you a range you can trust.

  1. Find your body type in the first table to get the full wrap range.
  2. Decide on a full or partial wrap. Partial costs less because it uses less film and time.
  3. Choose the finish with the shop, since the film is one of the biggest price drivers.
  4. Have someone inspect the paint before you commit.
  5. Get the final number in writing.

Yes, it's a calculator with no buttons. It also can't be wrong about your paint, which is more than the slider on a website can promise.

If you'd like the written number now, request a quote for a full or partial wrap and we'll walk through the steps with your car.

How much does it cost to wrap a truck or a Tesla?

A full pickup wrap at Enhanced runs $3,200 to $4,200. A full Tesla wrap runs $2,800 to $3,400 for a Model 3 and $3,200 to $3,800 for a Model Y, Model S or Model X. A Cybertruck runs $3,400 to $4,200, and we confirm each final price in writing.

The Cybertruck tops the Tesla list for the most boring reason there is: it's big. The Model 3 is the cheapest one, and it knows it.

Details, photos and the full list of models are on our Tesla vinyl wrap page and our truck wrap page.

What do we see in the shop?

We publish prices because the question we hear most is whether someone is being overcharged. One customer, Bruce Weaver, put it in a Google review on 7 December 2019: "Best car wrap shop in SD! No issues and great prices compared to the other shops in SD that try to rip you off from high end prices for the same job." That's one customer's review, not a promise for every job.

Before: a Pontiac Firebird with failing paint on the nose.

After: the same car wrapped in red with a black roof.

That Firebird is why we look at the car before confirming a price. A phone photo says "mostly red, looks fine." The nose, in person, says otherwise.

Our price sheet is based on 3M 2080 and Avery Dennison SW900 film, and Robert R., our Owner and Car Wrap Specialist, has worked in car wraps since 2019. If you change your mind later, we also remove wraps at the shop, so a color doesn't have to be forever.

At Enhanced Automotive, a full wrap runs about $2,800 to $4,600 depending on the vehicle. A coupe runs $2,800 to $3,500 and a sedan $3,000 to $3,800, while an SUV runs $3,200 to $3,800. We confirm the final price in writing after we look at the car.

How much does it cost to wrap an SUV?

A full SUV wrap at Enhanced Automotive is about $3,200 to $3,800. The exact price depends on the model, the film and the condition of the paint. Send us the year and model, and we'll confirm a final price in writing after we look at the car.

Is a partial wrap cheaper than a full wrap?

Yes, because a partial wrap uses less film and less install time. We quote partial wraps by what you want covered, such as a hood, a roof or a bumper. One example is a chrome delete, which starts from $399.

What changes the price of a car wrap the most?

Vehicle size, the film and finish, how much of the car you cover, and the condition of the paint. Bigger vehicles need more film and more time. Damaged paint needs attention first, so we check the surface before we confirm a number.

Why do car wrap prices online look so different?

Shops price different films, coverage and prep, so two numbers can describe two different jobs. Ask what each quote includes (film, labor, parts removed and put back, paint prep) and compare like with like.
